Incorporation of a modern ore stockpiling area and extension of the company's overseas dock.
Corporación Navíos S.A. expands its port terminal to offer more services, strengthening Uruguay's logistics capacity and its international positioning. The facilities included the extension of the overseas dock, the addition of a third loading line and the construction of a modern infrastructure for ore stockpiling.
The project also included a new dry bulk storage area to store up to 600,000 tons of minerals, with modern dust control and water treatment systems.
More than 101 piles were installed in the water by positioning, nailing, driving and drilling of metal casings. These tasks were carried out on pontoons on which cranes were placed for piling and subsequent assembly of precast parts.
For the ore stockpile area, more than 227 piles were constructed using the continuous helix method and more than 300 direct foundation bases.
More than 10,000 m3 of concrete and more than 700,000 kg of steel for reinforced concrete parts were used. In addition, more than 2,000 m of drainage ditches and 2,700 m of water supply pipes were laid, as well as 3,500 m of cable laying for the electrical network.
